Chemical Management Strategy

Version 1 - Last updated 23 Jul 2025

A chemical management strategy sets the direction for how chemicals are selected, used and controlled across a facility.

It provides a framework for reducing risk and working toward safer, more sustainable chemical use over time.

There are four requirements for developing a chemical management strategy:

1
Scope and goals
Define the scope for implementation and set the goals.
2
Resources
Plan and allocate resources to implement the chemical management strategy
3
Action plan
Prepare an action plan to implement the chemical management strategy
4
Upstream suppliers
Engage with upstream suppliers
