Output

Focusing on hazardous chemicals and the effect of these on land, life, air and water.

The Output focus area lists requirements are for air, wastewater, sludge and chemicals-related (hazardous) waste.

Suppliers are expected to ensure that products/articles comply with all applicable regulations and customer-specific requirements on restricted substances (RSLs). This includes conducting testing or evaluations as required by the customers, applying chemicals in accordance with the formulator's instructions, and taking corrective actions in response to any RSL non-compliance. Product/article testing should validate the effectiveness of chemical input controls and process management, thereby supporting continuous improvement in chemical management practices.

Chapters

Suppliers are expected to meet the requirements set out in each chapter. Further explanation on how to achieve each requirement is given for each point.

It is expected that the facility should identify all output streams and discharge points, including wastewater, sludge, air emissions and chemical-related waste. Appropriate measurement and control mechanisms should be implemented for each output stream. The facility should also maintain monthly records detailing the type of waste, discharge point, quantity/volume generated and disposal route for each stream. It is also expected that the facilities' effluent treatment plant is maintained and in working order.
