Chemical traceability is the ability to track chemicals and related information within operations and through the supply chain. It enables better oversight, supports responsible sourcing and provides the transparency needed to identify risks, verify claims and demonstrate compliance.

There are two requirements for traceability:

1
Traceability system
The facility implements an internal traceability system that tracks chemicals used in production.
2
FEFO and FIFO
The facility implements a FEFO (First Expired, First Out) and/or FIFO (First In, First Out) system to manage chemical use by expiration date or purchase date.
