Chemical Management Strategy
The previous four requirements have been consolidated into three, with the requirement wording updated to align with StZ V2. The requirement to prepare an action plan to implement the chemical management strategy has been merged into the requirement for a documented chemical management strategy, reinforcing a more integrated approach to strategy development and implementation. In addition, the upstream supplier engagement guidance has been expanded with additional scope, objectives, responsibilities, and practical examples to provide greater clarity.

Previous requirements:
1. Define the scope for implementation and set the goals
2. Plan and allocate resources to implement the chemical management strategy
3. Prepare an action plan to implement the chemical management strategy
4. Engage with upstream suppliers
Updated requirements:
1. The facility has a documented chemical management strategy
2. The facility engages with direct upstream input material suppliers & subcontractors to improve chemical management practices, aligned with the RtZ Programme
3. The facility assigns resources for implementing, maintaining and continually improving the chemical management strategy
The earlier requirement, “Prepare an action plan to implement the chemical management strategy”, has been merged with “The facility has a documented chemical management strategy”.
To align with the StZ V2 requirements, the technical content of the earlier requirement, “Prepare an action plan to implement the chemical management strategy”, has been added under the new requirement “The facility has a documented chemical management strategy”
Upstream supplier engagement guidance is expanded to include examples, scope, objectives, and responsibilities.
The guidance under the requirement “The facility engages with direct upstream input material suppliers & subcontractors to improve chemical management practices, aligned with the RtZ Programme” has been updated and expanded. This new section establishes a structured framework for upstream supplier engagement, clearly defining the scope, expectations, and responsibilities for improving chemical management across the supply chain.
