Safe Chemical Storage

Version 1 - Last updated 06 Aug 2026

The previous four requirements have been consolidated into two, with the requirement wording updated to align with StZ V2. The requirements have been streamlined by integrating the previous storage design, safety card, and chemical compatibility elements into a broader requirement focused on the assessment and design of safe chemical storage areas, providing a more holistic approach to safe chemical storage.

The previous four requirements were changed to two. Requirement wording was updated to align with StZ V2 requirements.

Previous requirements:

1. Design a safe chemical store

2. Ensure labelling on chemical containers and implement actions on chemical labelling

3. Prepare and display chemical safety cards at storage points in the chemical stores

4. Ensure compatibility precautions for the storage of commodity chemicals

Updated requirements:

1. The facility assesses and designs all chemical storage areas for safety

2. All chemicals are labelled

The earlier storage-design, safety-card and chemical-compatibility elements were consolidated under the broader safe storage-area assessment and design requirement.

The previous standalone requirements for storage design, chemical safety cards, and chemical compatibility have been consolidated under a broader safe chemical storage-area assessment and design requirement. This provides a more holistic approach to chemical storage management under the requirement “The facility assesses and designs all chemical storage areas for safety”
